What constitutes great design?

pernille lind

Showing a sense of restraint or a well thought-through approach—something I believe is at the heart of Nordic interior design. It’s about creating spaces that are calm, intentional, and quietly functional.

What do you do when you’re not working?

pernille lind

Simple daily routines, such as watering the garden, making food or going to the farmers market. Oh and try to see friends and family even though it’s hard when everyone is spread across London and  various countries.

What is your favourite hotel in the world?

pernille lind

Raya Heritage, in Chiang Mai, Thailand.

The hotel group has a few boutique hotels and resorts across Thailand. With this particular destination, they collaborated with local craftspeople on everything—from staff uniforms to furniture, lighting, tableware, and other decorative objects. Many are made using traditional techniques and locally sourced materials. When we were there, we also visited a nearby coffee plantation that supplies the hotel's beans—it's run by the same hotelier. The guest rooms sit within a beautifully maintained tropical garden along the river. Every morning, you wake up to the sounds of jungle wildlife. That connection to nature, craft, and locality was incredibly inspiring—and in many ways, it mirrors the values we bring into our own interior design approach.
