Could you please give us a quick introduction? When did you first decide you wanted to become an interior designer?

Lesya pechenkina

My name is Lesya Pechenkina, I am a designer, founder of Simple Interiors bureau, and simply a happy person because I have been doing what I love for 8 years. I came into design by the call of my heart; my childhood hobby of rearranging the walls of toy houses grew into serious studies at the university, then work for my friends, and gradually, with time and development, we grew to three offices in two countries, a staff of 40 employees who share a passion for our work, and of course, clients – people with high aesthetic standards and refined taste who highly appreciate our approach, experience in design and architecture, and level of service.

Is there a foundational element inherent to your practice, philosophy, and approach?

lesya pechenkina

When designing and building properties for people, we adhere to the philosophy "Every home is, above all, a person." Since the founding of the studio and to this day, this principle is still with us. It means that no matter what ambitions and goals designers would like to realize, in a project, we always start from the personality of the client, their character, and way of thinking. When working on the image of the interior, we strive to give those who will live within these walls a sense of peace, inner harmony, safety, and joy, because an interior can achieve much more than just comfort.

Do you have any tips or tricks you could share with us that help you in your day-to-day?

lesya pechenkina

My personal secrets at work are how I achieve the right mindset for the day and its tasks. For this, I often wake up early and spend the morning hours in silence with a cup of coffee and a book. In the evening, after all the worries and a busy schedule, it's important to calm the mind, and for that, a hot bath or meditation helps me, and it's even better to combine both. Between morning and evening rituals, I manage to maintain maximum focus and concentration.

If you could change one thing about the design industry, what would it be?

lesya pechenkina

If I could change only one thing in the design industry, it would concern education. Today, it often happens that teachers are detached from practice while teaching because they have retired from designing due to their experience and age. Meanwhile, in our profession, everything changes every second, every minute. New trends, new standards, and new tendencies appear every day; it is important to be inside them, constantly developing your visual experience by traveling the world and implementing current complex projects and solutions. Only this way can you pass on modern knowledge, non-trivial paths, and inspiration, which is also very important for creativity, to the future generation of designers and architects.

What was one of your biggest lessons learned since starting your firm?

lesya pecHenkina

A few lessons that years of work in our industry and experience in my business have taught me: Sign documents, trust your team, but always rely on yourself, despite all the friendship with the client, you must do everything perfectly,

What’s next – can you share with us your vision and some of your goals?

lesya pechenkina

The future is always of greatest interest to me and attracts me with its possibilities, which you cannot know or even imagine today. I have no specific goals; I go with the flow (Pisces according to the horoscope) and enjoy the moments, giving my all today, here and now, rejoicing at any new turns on the horizon.

Design hero?

lesya pechenkina

I don’t have a design hero; I have only a life hero - my mom.

What are the top 3 suppliers you love working with?

lesya pechenkina

I like working with the same people for years. For many years, we have been working with the same partners for Italian soft furniture, cabinet furniture, and parquet. At the same time, we are always looking for new fresh offers and new market players.

Best designed hotel you’ve ever stayed in?

lesya pechenkina

I stay a lot in designer hotels to gain experience and visual knowledge. Of the latest hotels, the one that impressed me the most was Dusit Thani Kyoto in Japan.
