What motivated you to transition from Director of Communications at a Chicago design firm to founding Trove Object Gallery?

Trove Object Gallery

After years at a top architectural and interior design firm in Chicago, I saw a gap—designers defaulting to generic objects to complete their projects. The reason? Time constraints and design fatigue. Sourcing exceptional, one-of-a-kind pieces requires dedication, and by the final phase, energy is often spent. I set out to change that—creating a curated space where designers can easily find distinctive, high-calibre objects that elevate a project rather than just complete it because the finishing touches should be as intentional as the design itself.

How do you discover and select the global artisans featured in your gallery?

Trove Object Gallery

This is my passion. I love the thrill of discovery—unearthing makers who honour traditional craftsmanship, embrace handmade artistry and work sustainably. There’s a world of beauty waiting to be found, and I’m privileged to share it with those who appreciate the art behind the object.

Can you share the story behind one of your favourite pieces currently available at Trove?

Trove Object Gallery

Choosing a favourite feels impossible, but Noe's Hanniwa Warrior Series holds a special place. Inspired by Japan’s Kofun period, these sculptures reflect the belief that spirits reside everywhere. Traditionally, Haniwa figures were buried with the dead for protection. Noe’s take on these figures transforms ancient protection symbols into day talismans—quietly watching over and protecting our souls.

How does your personal aesthetic influence the curation of pieces in the gallery?

Trove Object Gallery

I believe in quality over quantity. My home is a collection of meaningful objects gathered over 28 years of travel—each piece holding a memory, a story, or a connection. They may differ in style, but they share a sense of purpose and resonance. Trove embodies this same philosophy. Every object I curate isn’t just a decorative piece; it’s a reflection of craftsmanship, culture, and the hands that created it. These are objects meant to be lived with, appreciated, and felt

In what ways has your family's love of travel and global citizenship influenced Trove?

Trove Object Gallery

Travel has always been a priority for me, shaping my worldview and deepening my appreciation for craftsmanship. Experiencing diverse cultures has reinforced the value of artistry without borders—an ethos that defines Trove. Growing up it was a priority, and I’ve continued that tradition with my family. Experiencing diverse cultures fosters an appreciation for craftsmanship. Trove is a reflection of this—bringing together global artistry that transcends borders.

Can you discuss the importance of preserving artisanal traditions in today's design market?

Trove Object Gallery

Artisanal traditions carry generations of history and identity. Losing them means losing a vital cultural voice. Preserving these traditions is just as important as safeguarding ancient languages. These crafts aren’t just echoes of the past; they are evolving expressions of human creativity that deserve to be honoured and sustained. If lost, we lose a piece of our identity. Protecting them ensures that heritage continues to inspire the future.

How has Chicago’s rich art and design history influenced your approach to Trove?

Trove Object Gallery

Chicago’s design legacy is woven into Trove’s DNA. From Frank Lloyd Wright’s reverence for craftsmanship to the Art Institute’s global collections, the city has shaped my appreciation for blending tradition with modernity. Frank Lloyd Wright’s dedication to craftsmanship has been a guiding force, and institutions like The Art Institute and the MCA have broadened my perspective—blending tradition with innovation in ways that influence my curatorial vision

What advice would you give to someone looking to incorporate unique, handcrafted pieces into their home?

Follow your instincts—if a piece speaks to you, it belongs in your home. Learn about the artist, embrace contrasts, and don’t hesitate to mix eras and styles. Unexpected pairings make a space feel curated, personal, and alive. If you connect with a piece, you’ll never tire of it. Learn about the artist, embrace contrast, and don’t overthink it. A Moon Jar on a sleek modern table or a marble sculpture on a rustic surface—these juxtapositions create intrigue and invite conversation
