Partners in life before, we, Domenic Degner and Falko Landenberger, first began collaborating on different projects in 2019. DEGLAN was made official in the beginning of 2023, the studio sits at the intersection of art, design, and craft.

Describe what Deglan makes:
deglan
We specialize in the creation of hand-crafted collectible design pieces and unique interiors, merging them into a symbiotic Gesamtkunstwerk, wherever possible. Our approach is to produce objects and interiors that are warm and authentic. However we always strive to stay within the larger notion of minimalism. Our hallmark of style is the amalgamation of organic, often imperfect or asymmetric forms - a nod to the irregularities found in nature - with flawlessly finished surfaces that lend an understated elegance to each piece and interior. Some examples of this process include Chi Chi Club in Hamburg, a reconstructive beauty clinic, and Lilian von Trapp’s jewelry store in Berlin. For these projects, we designed the interior all the way to the loose furniture and accessories.

We're currently working on a cold-pour metal bistro table set, a very large coffee table and an interior design project in Dubai.

Sources of creative desire:

Our inspiration ranges from broad themes like nature and weather and how it forms the landscape to the specific like a movie scene or old-school cultural references like the idea of hosting a dinner party in the 60’s.

One Deglan piece you shouldn't live without:

The DEGLAN lights and tables in our apartment, would be quite dark and empty without them.

What do you do when we're not working?
deglan
To be honest, when we’re not working, we’re constantly talking about work until either one interrupts the other, only to start talking about ideas or visions related to work 5 mins later. Otherwise, we both do a lot of sports, going to the gym and crossfit, cooking, hosting, entertaining our dog, and anything to do with SPA things - the bathtub is actually our most used object at home.

Advice for young artists:
deglan
Work experience as soon as possible is always helpful. As cheesy as it sounds, just do it, there’s no use in pondering the in’s and out’s of an idea. Also if you’re not one of the lucky few to come from a wealthy background you will probably need another/multiple income streams. Because it’s hard and difficult to go out on your own already by itself but money is always a big concern, especially in the beginning.
