DESIGNEERS
What inspires your furniture designs the most?
artu
Our designers draw inspiration from various sources, and we only implement ideas that align with the company’s overall style. The Artu aesthetic reflects the evolution of global design and the worldview of the new generation of designers, achieving a harmonious balance of color and form. We draw on the traditions of masters like Mondrian and Kandinsky to create pieces that feel timeless and innovative.

How do you strike a balance between form and function in your work?
artu
Each piece is the product of extensive collaboration between our designers and the design department, with new products taking anywhere from four months to two years to finalize. Only about 10% of the designs we explore make it to production due to the careful balancing act between creative design and functional construction.

Which of your pieces are you most proud of, and why?
artu
I’m especially proud of pieces that have become symbolic of our brand, like Moss, Wox, and Tap Tap. Their shapes capture the Artu style perfectly, setting the direction for our brand’s future and embodying our philosophy.

What materials do you love working with, and how do they influence your designs?
artu
We typically work with solid wood, plywood, metal, and various fabrics. Wood, especially, allows us to showcase natural patterns, adding a distinct character to each piece that enhances our designs' visual and tactile appeal.

What role does sustainability play in your design practice?
artu
Sustainability and ergonomics are top priorities. We devote hundreds of hours to refining every aspect of a design as close to perfection as possible, followed by rigorous testing before production.

If you could collaborate with any designer or artist, who would it be and why?
artu
I greatly admire our current designers and their thoughtful approach to design(Pavel Vetrov, Moritz Putzier, Pablo Regano, Milodamalo, Levantin, Figuron and Bambu). However, it would be fascinating to collaborate with legends like Marcel Breuer, Le Corbusier, Charles and Ray Eames, Hans Wegner, or Vico Magistretti, who have made such lasting impacts on the industry.

What's your favorite piece of furniture (by another designer), and why does it resonate with you?
artu
This is a hard choice, but I’m drawn to the Barcelona Chair by Mies van der Rohe. His belief that designing a chair is more challenging than designing a skyscraper resonates with me, as it speaks to the intricate balance of form, function, and comfort in furniture design.
