What inspired you to become an interior designer?
Magdalena Keck
For as long as I can remember, I’ve been passionate about art and expressing my individuality through creation. My journey began with studying fine art, but my move to New York ignited a fascination with interior design. I was drawn to the idea of creating on a larger scale, collaborating with others, and making a tangible impact on people’s quality of life.

What are some of your favourite design styles?
Magdalena Keck
I don’t have a favorite style—it’s more about the composition and harmony of elements. Does everything make sense together? Is the balance just right? How is light used within the space? Most importantly, how does the space make me feel? Does it intrigue me, spark curiosity, or create new neural connections? Does it inspire thought or emotion? Whether it’s a grand Rococo palazzo or a humble vernacular potting shed, the experience and impact are what truly matter to me.

Can you describe your design process, from initial concept to final installation?
Magdalena Keck
The process begins with understanding the client—their background, their journey, and their aspirations. It’s about delving into their memories and envisioning their goals. From there, we explore the space they’ve chosen, immersing ourselves in its potential.
Next comes space planning, material selection, lighting studies, and the curation of furnishings and art—all considered simultaneously, with each element carefully balanced against the others. Our studio manages purchasing and installations, ensuring every detail is executed to the highest standard. We maintain close oversight throughout, prioritizing meticulous attention and flawless delivery of the design vision.

What is your favourite part of the design process?

When the space is constructed, cleaned, and furnished, and we are at a point of art installation and attending to the smallest details.

How do you stay current with design trends?
Magdalena Keck
I am more interested in a broader spectrum of cultural experiences: art, talks and exhibitions in design galleries, ballet, travel, film, and literature. I suppose it’s the things that inspire or form trends. It is more about being submerged in a creative pool, playing there, drawing my own conclusions and challenging myself.

How do you approach working with clients to create a space that reflects their personal style and needs?
Magdalena Keck
The process begins with asking thoughtful questions, listening intently, and observing with genuine curiosity. It’s an intuitive journey shaped by the individuality of each client. While some aspects are structured, others are more casual, allowing the client’s personality to naturally guide the process rather than imposing a rigid framework.
Aesthetic considerations are seamlessly integrated with functional needs—there’s no compromise between beauty and practicality.

What is the most challenging project you have worked on?
Magdalena Keck
We had recently worked on a project on a remote island, where the resources were scarce and unreliable–that, combined with travel and staying on-site for extended periods, was challenging. It was hard work but satisfying.
